  • Breaking News: Armed robber apprehended
    A man got more than he bargained for while hanging out at the Port Chester Metro-North train station on Saturday, Aug. 12 around 1:45 a.m.
  • Longtime Port Chester Village Clerk, Assistant Village Manager and Village Manager Richard “Fritz” Falanka beat his opponent, seven-year Port Chester Trustee Gregory Adams, 3-1 to easily secure the position of mayor in Tuesday’s election.

  • A resident called Rye Brook Village Hall around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11 to report that the Blind Brook was white and cloudy in the vicinity of Country Ridge Drive. 
  • State bills passed this week could save 3 P.C. trustees

    During the past week, the State Senate and Assembly have passed identical bills that, if signed by the Governor, will solve the problem of the three Democratic Port Chester village trustees failing to sign their oath of office within 30 days after the start of their term.

    The bill, introduced in the Senate on June 9 and passed on June 15, states: “Notwithstanding any other law, rule or regulation to the contrary, any village, town, city or county official duly elected on Nov. 3, 2015 or Mar. 15, 2016 who currently occupies the office...
  • In a surprise move, the Blind Brook School District is looking to eliminate the director of guidance at Monday’s school board meeting. This will be the first time the issue has been discussed in public.

    Tenured administrator Mary Mediate currently holds the position and is one of the district’s top paid employees, earning about $180,000 annually.

  • As of Thursday night, May 19, three Port Chester trustees had been ousted from their seats, leaving only four members on the village board. If one member was absent, no meetings could take place and no business could transpire because there would have been no quorum. However, Mayor Dennis Pilla has been working on the problem since the cause of the trustees’ ejection came to light and has arrived at an apparent solution.
