How to submit a letter to the editor
The Westmore News encourages letters to the editor expressing your opinion on any local, regional or international issues or events that concern you. Letters must include your name and telephone number for verification purposes. Letters are due by Tuesday at noon. All letters related to an election are limited to 500 words. We do not accept letters relating to an election the week prior to that election. Throughout the year, no letters from the same person will be accepted two weeks in a row. The Westmore News reserves the right to edit or reject any letters.

Letter: R.B. Board should stop Reckson housing project
Back in the June 18 edition of this newspaper, I wrote at length about the fiscal dangers posed to Blind Brook School District taxpayers by the proposed 110-unit housing development in the Reckson Office Park-a proposal that would flood the District with new students and require more facilities, more teachers, more administrators, and beyond. I could not put a dollar figure on the burden, but I noted the shockingly high rise in property taxes that was associated with the construction of the Belle Fair community.
