Bringing together the community to cook up unique recipes & pottery
Local residents gathered at the Clay Art Center in Port Chester for an evening of pottery and community-inspired recipes on Saturday, Nov. 7. The dishes served up, however, were not your grandmother's famous lasagna or your neighbor's award-winning dessert. Instead, the unique recipes were created based on traits community members used to describe themselves.

Open Door helps fight breast cancer
Jim McGovern, Eastern Division Senior VP of Operations for the American Cancer Society, presents Open Door President & CEO Lindsay Farrell with a $50,000 check that was used to give more than 90 women over age 40 free breast screenings and allow 99 women to meet with patient advocates for educational information and to schedule mammograms during Open Door Family Medical Centers' A Crucial Catch Day - Your Day to Fight Breast Cancer event on Oct. 13. The event, which took place at Open Door's Port Chester site, was made possible through a $50,000 grant from the American Cancer Society and the National Football League.

For our Village Views Christmastime magazine coming out the first week in December, we are looking for photos of local pets dressed up for the holidays and of last year's holiday concerts at any of the Port Chester or Blind Brook schools or any of the churches in Port Chester or Rye Brook. Loser calls out supervisor-elect for unfair campaign practices
The election for Rye Town supervisor may be over, with Gary Zuckerman having easily won the position by 57 percent, but his opponent, Aldo Vitagliano, had some issues with that campaign that garnered him victory.

Mayor and manager's feud prompts investigation
Mayor Dennis Pilla and Village Manager Chris Steers can't seem to get along. Their feud dates back to the first time Pilla was mayor and Steers was manager. When Pilla was elected again in March after a two-year absence from the village board, the two had a heart to heart talk where they agreed to show each other respect and work together amicably.

Police Association food drive reaps more goods than ever
Lt. Charles Nielsen passes food items to Police Officer Arthur Dusenbury to load into the Port Chester police truck stationed in front of Costco for delivery to Caritas of Port Chester at Don Bosco Center and the Carver Center to stock their food pantries. The food was donated by shoppers who were given a suggested list of food items as well as diapers needed on their way into the warehouse store on Saturday, Nov. 14
