Letter: Onofrio puts children first
April 25, 2019 at 7:00 a.m.
My wife Shawna, a PCHS alum and now a fourth-grade teacher at JFK Elementary School, and I, also a proud PCHS alum, will be out casting our vote on May 21 for Chrissie Onofrio. We are both products of the school system here in Port Chester and have a real affection for the community. Currently we have two boys who attend King Street Elementary School.
Shawna and I have been fortunate to know Chrissie and her wonderful family for years and know what kind of integrity and passion she would bring to the Board of Education. For me, an ideal board of education member's main value should be putting the children first and giving every child an equal chance to succeed. Well, there is no one I would trust more with putting EVERY child's interests first more than Chrissie. She was born and raised in Port Chester, just like me and my wife. She understands the needs of this community and has a unique perspective from the eyes of an educator, not to mention being surrounded by some terrific teachers as well, in her wife Kathy and her mother, Mary Ellen. Chrissie realizes that it’s her time to put her knowledge and ideas to work for the betterment of the community she loves. It’s time for change. It’s time to not look back and go forward with people who want to see Port Chester continue to grow as constituted.
Port Chester is what the world looks like in 2019 and it should be readily embraced. A vibrant community with people from all walks of life. Let’s not turn back people, elect Chrissie Onofrio on May 21 because she loves this village and will always care about the future of this community and its wonderful children.
