Jesus and Isabella Sanchez walk hand in hand up Upland Street to King Street School. They made their way on foot from their home on Quintard Drive on Wednesday, Oct. 4, International Walk to School Day. The Port Chester elementary school joined the international celebration centered around keeping students fit and healthy.
Students and parents gather around PTA parent Viviana Torregrossa to see what’s in her basket—goodies like magnets, pencils and toys she gave out to children who, in the spirit of the day, walked to school rather than getting a ride.
Fifth grader Lucas Faraci and second grader Sophia Faraci of Adams Avenue stand in front of the King Street School Walk to School Day sign hung on the fence on Upland Street.
Mario Morales gives his daughter Micaela, a second grader, a hand as they near King Street School after walking from Glendale Place.
Fourth grader Ashley Krivinskas of Glen Avenue picks out a treat from PTA parent Viviana Torregrossa’s basket as a reward for walking.
