Captain Joseph A. Macri, 94, U.S. Coast Guard retired, died Apr. 10, 2019 of natural causes in Seattle, Wash.

He was born Aug. 25, 1925 in Port Chester.

Capt. Macri was preceded in death by his wife Marie McCullough Macri and is survived by sons Joseph (Chris) and Michael (Jan) and daughters Susan Tucker, Catherine Fleming (David) and Theresa Fusetti (Ron) and their families.

He is also survived by his brother John (Petie) Macri of Greenwich and sisters Gerry Storino of Madison N.J. and Rosemary Tirone of Port Chester.

He graduated Port Chester High School in 1941 and then entered the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

In World War II he served in the Merchant Marines followed by service in the U.S. Navy and 26 years in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Capt. Macri was a parishioner of St. Louise Roman Catholic Church and was a former commissioner of the Washington State Board of Pilotage Commission.

He also served on the Puget Sound Marine Advisory Association and was a member of the King's Point Alumni Association.
