A 34-year-old man had his heart set on new toys when he visited the Kohl’s Department Store at 431 Boston Post Rd. on Thursday, May 9. However, he allegedly did not plan on paying for them.
Port Chester police were called to the store at 5:35 p.m. after the loss prevention team allegedly saw the man stealing on their surveillance cameras. After the man entered the store, he allegedly went straight to the toy department and selected 12 bags of Legos valued at $48. According to the police report, the 148 Highland St. resident then positioned himself behind a fixture where the cameras could not see him.
When he came back into sight, staff allegedly realized the toys were not in view. After checking the area, security could not locate the merchandise, according to the report. Meanwhile, the man allegedly walked out of the store without paying for any of the concealed items.
Cristian Guzman was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
