The Westchester County shredder is coming to Rye Brook Village Hall, 938 King St., Sat., Jan. 14, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Bring any documents you want to have shredded. Remove paper clips and binders; no boxes can be shredded. Rye Brook personnel will be there to help. This is a great opportunity for Rye Brook residents to dispose of sensitive personal documents free of charge. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a federal holiday in the U.S. It is observed on the third Monday in January each year—Jan. 16 this year. Government offices in the Town of Rye, the Villages of Port Chester and Rye Brook, Port Chester and Blind Brook schools, the Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library, most banks and the post office will be closed; there will be no mail delivery. In Rye Brook, Mon. garbage collections move to Tues., Tues. pickups move to Wed.; Wed.-Fri. collections are unchanged; no green waste collection this week. In Port Chester, Mon. pickups move to Tues., Tues. pickups move to Wed.; Wed-Fri. collections are unchanged. There is no bulk pickup this week.

A Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration: Keep the Dream Alive will be held Sat., Jan. 14 at 4 p.m. at Saint Frances AME Zion Church, 18 Smith St., Port Chester. Keynote speaker will be Rev. James Furman of Mount Zion Christian Baptist Church. All are welcome.

The next bulk pickup for trash in Port Chester will be Wed., Jan. 25. Staring in 2023, bulk will be collected every Wednesday except during holiday weeks. There will be no green waste pickup in January and February.
