Curtain Call, Inc., 1349 Newfield Ave., Stamford, Conn., will hold open auditions for adults and children for its spring musical, “The Wizard of Oz,” Sun.-Tues., Jan. 22-24. This will be a full-scale stage production of the MGM classic film featuring all the songs, dialogue and characters we've come to know and love since 1939. All roles are open to non-union actors in this adult production. Dorothy will be cast age-appropriately. Munchkins will be cast from younger performers ages 6-12. The Picture House, 84 Kraft Ave., Bronxville, will present “Cheap Shots,” Sun., Jan. 15 at 5 p.m. A newly digitized film, “Cheap Shots” is anything but. This 1988 black comedy is somewhat reminiscent of the Coen brothers’ “Blood Simple,” in which the get-rich schemes of a rural motel manager and its lone tenant backfire with murderously funny results. Pelham Art Center at 155 Fifth Ave. is displaying a new public art installation, “The Conversation Sculpture” by Brooklyn artist Musa Hixson. It is a 9 ft. x 6 ft. x 6 ft. steel sculpture that mimics a blooming flower with three seats enclosed in its frame. The interactive piece intends to facilitate new connections and encourage people to think differently about public space.
