The Construction Industry Council of Westchester and the Hudson Valley is hosting its annual Hudson Valley Construction Career Day Fri., Mar. 31, 9:30 a.m. at Rockland Community College, 145 College Rd., Suffern. The event is key in educating students who aren’t necessarily college-bound about career opportunities in the trades, and some 700 kids in grades 10-12 from Westchester, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess and Rockland school districts are expected to attend. Raising awareness about the benefits of apprenticeships and opportunities for skilled craftspeople is a priority for strengthening our workforce, communities and overall economy. Friends of Lasdon Park, 2610 Rte. 35, Katonah, is presenting Amazing Butterflies thru May 7. Shrink down into the undergrowth and enter the interactive maze. Become a caterpillar and find your way through a secret wild world as grass and leaves tower above your head. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a ticket holding adult to enter. Pelham Art Center at 155 Fifth Ave. is displaying a new public art installation, “The Conversation Sculpture” by Brooklyn artist Musa Hixson. It is a 9 ft. x 6 ft. x 6 ft. steel sculpture that mimics a blooming flower with three seats enclosed in its frame. Summer Camps & Programs

Westchester County’s Learn to Swim Program for children ages 3-14 is open for registration. New this year are sessions for adults beginning at age 15. The program will take place at all four county-owned pools—Saxon Woods in White Plains, Sprain Ridge and Tibbetts Brook, both in Yonkers. A later date will be announced for registration at Willson’s Woods in Mt. Vernon. Learn to Swim for children will be held in two sessions—Tues.-Thurs., with Session 1 Mon., July 3 (no class Thurs., July 4)-Thurs., July 20. Session 2 will run Tues., July 25-Thurs. Aug. 10. Class times are 9-9:50 a.m. and 9:55-10:15 a.m. for both sessions. Learn to Swim for ages 15 & older will be held in two sessions—Sat. & Sun., Sat., July 8-Sun., July 23 and Sat., July 29-Aug. 13. Westchester County Sports Camp enrollment for Slam Dunk Basketball Camp, JustinTime Baseball Summer Camp, HEAT Baseball Camp and Hole-in-One Jr. Golf Camp are open now. Slam Dunk Basketball Camp will be held at Westchester County Center for children entering grades 3-9 as of Sept. 2023. Four week-long sessions run Mon., July 10-Fri., Aug. 11, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. $375 per camper per session (includes lunch). JustinTime Baseball Summer Camp provides half-day instruction for children ages 5-15 at Scout Field in Bronxville with six four-day sessions Mon., June 26-Thurs., Aug. 8, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. $400 per camper per session. Friends of Rye Nature Center announces that online registration is open for their Summer Program. At this time, they are limiting registration to four weeks per child for day camp and three weeks for Paddle Adventure Camp. Full payment due upon registration. Summer Day Camp includes Explorers (preschool and K), Discoverers (grades K-5) and Naturalists in Training (grades 6 & 7). Paddle Adventure Camp is for campers entering grades 8, 9 or 10 and runs 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Fee for Explorers is $425; for Discoverers fee is $450; for NIT fee is $495 and for Paddle Adventure Camp fee is $600.
