The Blind Brook girls’ basketball team is reflecting on their season last year and hoping they can move on further than the section quarterfinals in 2024-25.

Last year the Lady Trojans lost to league opponent Westlake in the quarterfinals of the section playoffs although they had wanted to go further. They had a lot to be proud of, ending the season with a 13-8 record and had many excellent players on the team including Blind Brook alum and former captain Kyra Mak and current captain Kendall Konigsberg, a junior who was League Player of the Year last year and presumably will repeat that title this season with her talent building each year. With most of the team returning, the Lady Trojans are expecting the chemistry will be there from the jump and they can work on their skills as a team and as individuals.

This year the girls want to finish higher than the fifth seed in the section, and their desire to be champions is stronger than ever. They will have the chance to win the league championship and set themselves up for that challenge from the first game of the season.

Captain Konigsberg led the team last year in points per game. With Konigsberg and senior captain Makayla Dutra leading the 10-woman roster, they both are hoping they can guide this team to greater success than they have seen the past three years.

When asked about the upcoming season, captain Konigsberg said, “We’re all so excited for the season to start. We now have a more experienced team, with almost everyone back from last year. We hope to build on last year’s success and make a deep run in the playoffs.”

“I am excited to lead this team and can’t wait for the season ahead,” said fellow captain Dutra. “I have confidence in our abilities, and I am eager to see what this talented group of girls will accomplish as a family.”

The Lady Trojans will begin their 2024-25 season with a two-day tournament at Brewster High School on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 12 and 13, followed by another away game at Tuckahoe on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 4:30 p.m. Their first home game won’t be until after the holiday break on Tuesday, Jan. 7 versus Dobbs Ferry at 4:45 p.m. Before that they will play Woodlands away on Friday, Jan. 3 at 4:30 p.m.
