A Westchester Medical Center Mobile COVID-19 testing site will be set up in Port Chester next week. The site will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is available by appointment only.

The testing station will be in the municipal parking lot on New Broad Street behind Neri’s Bakery on Sunday, Dec. 13 and Wednesday, Dec. 16.

The initiative will continue beyond these dates on a Wednesday and Sunday schedule, but the location could be adjusted.

To register, visit https://www.westchestermedicalcenter.org/news/coronavirus-update-1401 or call 914-202-4530. While patients will be asked for insurance, it is not required to receive a test. There is no co-pay for the test nor will individuals be billed.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Port Chester continued to increase this week.

As of Wednesday, Dec. 9, there were 235 active cases in the Village, an increase of 13 since Tuesday, Dec. 1. The municipality has had 2,166 cases of the virus.

In Rye Brook, there were 48 active cases making for a cumulative total of 369. The number of active cases decreased by nine since last week.

On Monday, Dec. 7, the Blind Brook School District was notified a student at the middle school tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Due to the number of quarantine orders put in place from this case as well as previous ones, the middle school was unable to support in-person learning.

The school was placed on remote learning for the remainder of the week.

From Monday, Dec. 14 through Thursday, Dec. 17, the seventh-grade class will remain on the remote learning platform. In-person instruction is slated to resume on Friday, Dec. 18, while students in the sixth and eighth grade will return to school on Monday, Dec. 14.
