Public invited to comment on P.C. intersection fixes
July 16, 2020 at 9:04 a.m.
The Village of Port Chester applied for a State Department of Transportation Pedestrian Safety Action Plan grant for several pedestrian improvements to intersections in 2018 and were awarded a grant late that year for some of them.
The grant fully funds the design and construction of these improvements.
Now it’s time for the public to get involved. A public information session will be held virtually on Monday, July 20 at 6 p.m. Virtual public attendance will be provided through videoconference at https://portchesterny.webex.com/mw3300/mywebex/default.do?siteurl=portchesterny&service=6
The project will provide curb extensions, ADA compliant sidewalk ramps, installation of signage to reroute truck traffic and high visibility crosswalks.
These pedestrian safety improvements will be provided at six locations in the village: North Regent Street and Irving Avenue, Abendroth Avenue and Mill Street, Abendroth Avenue and Adee Street, Abendroth Avenue and Willett Avenue, East Broadway corridor and Purdy Avenue and Waterfront Place.
The purpose of Monday’s meeting is to gain public input, take questions and comments for the development and eventual construction of this project scheduled for the spring of 2021.
People attending are encouraged to bring questions and ideas to the meeting where an open forum question, answer and discussion period will take place following a short presentation.
