With cases of novel coronavirus continuing to rise in Westchester, the Village of Rye Brook reported 16 new cases since last week. There is a confirmed total of at least 17 residents who have contracted the virus.

“As the number of Village residents who have contracted coronavirus continues to rise, I ask that you re-double your efforts to maintain at least a 6-foot distance from other people,” Mayor Paul Rosenberg said in a statement on Monday, Mar. 23.

As of Wednesday, Mar. 25, there were 30,811 cases reported in New York, with 4,691 positive tests in Westchester.

The number of cases is expected to increase as more people are tested. To report a suspected case, call the New York State hotline: (888) 364-3065, or the Westchester County hotline: (886) 588-0195. For general information dial 211.

Concerned residents can be tested at the mobile sites in New Rochelle and Long Island by appointment only. Call (888) 364-3065 to arrange one.

To further implement social distancing, the Village has taken additional measures. Rims at the basketball courts have been removed and playgrounds, tennis courts and baseball fields are closed.

“Unfortunately, there are things that we just can’t control,” Rosenberg stated. “Whether it’s walking through the parks or in the street, please keep your distance from each other. I love the fact that there are more people than ever out walking and bike riding. We’ve all probably met some neighbors that either we haven’t seen in a while or didn’t know at all. While that’s great, please keep your distance.”

Mayor Rosenberg will continue to send email and phone updates. To receive them, visit www.ryebrook.org/alerts.
