Active COVID-19 cases continue to increase

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Port Chester is higher than it has been in several months.

As of Wednesday, Nov. 4, there were 86 active virus cases in the Village—an increase of 10 since last week. The municipality has had a total of 1,519 cases.

Numbers increased in Rye Brook as well. The number of active cases swelled by six and rested at 13 as of press time Wednesday, Nov. 4. The Village has had a total of 238 cases.

In New York, there have been over 518,000 cases of the virus, with a little over 41,000 of them coming from Westchester.

Like most of the country, the number of infections across the state is rising.

According to the New York State school report database, as of Monday, Nov. 2, the Blind Brook School District had two positive cases at the high school and one at Ridge Street Elementary School.

In the Port Chester School District, as of Tuesday, Nov. 3, four students at JFK Elementary School, three at King Street School, two at the middle school, five at the high school and two at Edison Elementary School have tested positive. There is also one teacher/staff member at the middle school who has contracted the virus, as well as two at Edison School.
