Permit fee for sidewalk cafés lifted

At its Monday, Apr. 19 meeting, the Port Chester Board of Trustees decided not to charge restaurants and other food service establishments a fee to have outdoor dining on the public sidewalks through Dec. 31, 2021.

The permit fee for a “sidewalk café” is $100 for the calendar year.

The Village will refund the permit fee paid by current permit holders.

All other requirements of the Village Code for sidewalk cafés must still be met.

“On behalf of my fellow Board members, I am pleased to have taken this action,” said Mayor Luis Marino. “We are sending a strong message to our local restaurants and other food service establishments. They are the lifeblood of our community. The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly hurt these business owners and their employees and families. The Board of Trustees will continue to do whatever we can to support them.”
