Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial, Rte. 35, Somers is presenting the Lasdon on the Hill Holiday Train Show, thru Dec. 31. Rain or shine. The show has been expanded to more than 5,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor exhibition space. Start with a stroll through whimsical holiday scenes leading to the Conservatory where G-scale trains will be chugging on nine multi-level tracks, over bridges, under tunnels and through colorful holiday plants! The happy elf, Santa, will be available to meet with children in his Holiday Cottage located opposite the Conservatory at scheduled times during each session. Visits with Santa are available as space and time permits. Edith G. Read Wildlife Sanctuary, 1 Playland Parkway, Rye will offer Animals in Hibernation Sat., Jan. 8, 2-3:30 p.m. Ever wonder where all of those animals go during the winter? Many animals hibernate, but hibernation can take many different forms. In this program learn more about different types of hibernation for all sorts of different animals found in the sanctuary. Léa Seydoux stars as a seemingly unflappable superstar TV journalist whose career, home life, and psychological stability are turned upside down after she carelessly drives into a young delivery man on a busy street, triggering a series of self-reckonings as well as a strange romance that proves impossible to shake. As France attempts to slow down and retreat into a simpler life, her fame continues to pursue her. Yorktown Stage will present “A Christmas Carol—A Story of Hope” Sun., Dec. 26 at 2 & 6 p.m. and Dec. 30 & 31 at 7:30 p.m. The musical is a brand new adaptation of the Charles Dickens’ classic set in London, Christmas 1843. Although published almost two centuries ago, the problems of society, wealth, poverty, relationships and struggles can still be recognized in our modern world. The story celebrates the importance of kindness, family, friends and community. ArtsWestchester’s Teen Tuesdays & Thursdays are back! Youth can join on a Tuesday or Thursday from 4:30-6 p.m. to participate in new creative and fun art-making activities led by professional teaching artists. “The Solomon Diaries”/Album Release event will take place Sat., Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. at Temple Israel of New Rochelle, 1000 Pinebrook Ave. An Original Musical Tribute to the Borscht Belt featuring Sam Sadigursky and Nathan Koci. Inspired by the rise and fall of the Borscht Belt, clarinetist/composer Sadigursky’s “The Solomon Diaries” reflects on the freedom, rebellion, celebration, tradition, independence, loss, hope, and renewal of the Jewish community. His original compositions will be performed live in the Temple sanctuary, accompanied by accordionist, Nathan Koci. The Katonah Museum of Art presents “Picture Our Journey,” on view in the Learning Center thru Jan. 23 in conjunction with Arrivals (see above) on view in the Museum’s main galleries. Picture Our Journey features original children’s picture book art that shares personal yet universal stories of immigration. Through illustrations and words, these stories give voice to topics such as the struggle to belong in one’s new home, the pain of separation, and the ties that bind immigrants to their country and culture of origin. Pelham Art Center at 155 Fifth Ave. is displaying a new public art installation, The Conversation Sculpture, by Brooklyn artist Musa Hixson. It is a 9 ft. x 6 ft. x 6 ft. steel sculpture that mimics a blooming flower with three seats enclosed in its frame. The interactive piece intends to facilitate new connections and encourage people to think differently about public space.
