After over two months of adhering to Orange Zone mandates, the Village of Port Chester is officially out of the designation—along with all other Westchester communities that were facing a micro-cluster label.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Wednesday, Jan. 27, that most Yellow, Orange and Red zones have been lifted across the state. That means businesses and institutions can operate under the NY Forward plan the state adopted over the summer.

Restaurants are permitted to offer indoor dining at a maximum 50 percent capacity and can seat up to 10 persons at a table. Indoor religious services can operate at 33 percent capacity, and indoor personal gatherings are encouraged to stay limited to 10 people.

School districts are no longer required to conduct weekly COVID-19 tests.

The lifting of micro-cluster zones comes as coronavirus holiday surge rates seem to be leveling off. On Wednesday, there were 360 active cases in Port Chester, a sharp decrease compared to the 423 reported last week. According to Westchester County COVID-19 dashboard data, there have been a total of 3,615 cases in the Village.

In Rye Brook, there were 83 coronavirus cases as of press time, down from the 99 infections present last week. There have been a total of 717 cases in the community.

A Westchester Medical Center COVID-19 testing site will be at the Salvation Army at 36 Bush Ave. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29. An appointment is needed to be tested.
