The Osborn in Rye has announced that its VP of Sales, Christa Picciano-Daniello, has been appointed President of LeadingAge New York’s Retirement Housing Cabinet, an important leadership position in the senior living sector. She is also service line representative to the organization’s Board of Directors.
Daniel Ahearn, a Stepinac High School alumnus (Class of '05), was honored June 17 by The Business Council of Westchester as one of the recipients of the distinguished "Rising Stars 40 Under 40 Awards." Ahearn, Vice President and Financial Advisor of Pell Wealth Partners in Rye Brook, has long been a supporter of his alma mater, the renowned all-boys Catholic high school, where he volunteers as a coach of the championship varsity hockey team. He graduated from the University of Delaware in 2009 with a B.S. in Finance and a minor in International Business.
Justin McFadden, Ceren Gol and Joelle La Guardia, all of Port Chester, have been named to the spring 2021 Dean’s List at Rochester Institute of Technology. Undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their GPA is greater than or equal to 3.40 for nine credit hours of traditionally graded coursework; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete," NE, D, or F; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours. Justin is in the Management Information Systems program; Ceren is in the Graphic Design program and Joelle is in the Medical Illustration program.
Luc Soberano of Port Chester has been named to the President’s List at Berkeley College for the winter 2021 semester. Students with a minimum of 12 academic credits who achieve a grade point average of 4.0 for two consecutive semesters in the same academic year qualify for the President’s List.
Sebastian Nowogrodzki and Rebecca Salerno, both of Port Chester, and Roberto Digiacomo of Rye Brook received degrees from the University of Connecticut this spring. Robert was also named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2021 semester.
After a short hiatus, the Port Chester Marching Band bottle and can recycling will take place Sun., July 18 and will continue the first and third Sunday of every month at the Port Chester Middle School parking lot from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

The Blind Brook School System summer hours: The Bruno M. Ponterio Ridge Street School will be inaccessible to the public throughout the summer due to ongoing construction. The Port Chester Republican Party is looking for candidates for the Board of Trustee elections next year. Under the cumulative voting system, all six seats will be open to candidates. Candidates will be nominated at a caucus in late January 2022 for the Mar. 15, 2022 election.

Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation has redesigned its classic park pass to improve branding and generate repeat business. Park passes are now full color, feature the Parks’ logo, and include a traditional credit card-sized pass as well as a smaller card that can be attached to a key chain. Both cards include a barcode, which identifies the user. While there is no photo on the card, the user’s photo, account number and information will appear on screen when scanned at park entrances. Park passes can be purchased at the following locations: Blue Mountain Sportsman Center at Blue Mountain Reservation, Cortlandt Manor, Croton Point Park, Croton-on-Hudson, Dunwoodie Golf Course, Yonkers, Hudson Hills Golf Course, Ossining, Maple Moor Golf Course, White Plains, Mohansic Golf Course, Yorktown Heights, Saxon Woods Golf Course, Scarsdale, Sprain Lake Golf Course, Yonkers, Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Cross River and Westchester County Parks Department, Ardsley.
Park passes are valid for three years and can be purchased for $90 by Westchester County residents over the age of 18. Junior park passes are available for those ages 12-17 for the same price, with additional rules for guests. Senior citizen park passes for those over age 60 are valid for six years. Manhattanville College will offer a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program in the fall at its newly opened School of Nursing and Health Sciences. According to The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), Family Nurse Practitioners, who have a wide scope of practice and can provide care to patients of any age, are considered the cornerstone of primary healthcare with 70 percent delivering primary care in the United States. Americans sought care from approximately 290,000 FNPs for more than one billion office visits in 2019.
The North Atlantic States Carpenters Training Fund and the Sisters in the Brotherhood are offering a Pre-Apprentice Program, which can lead to a five-year apprenticeship program with the Carpenters Union. A career in the union provides great wages, excellent benefits including a pension and annuity. This program is an ideal opportunity for women who have never considered carpentry as an accessible career option.
