Delta Airlines returns to HPN

Delta Airlines is back at the Westchester County Airport (HPN) in Rye Brook.
To the relief of local travelers using the Delta system, it is no longer necessary to journey to LaGuardia or JFK for a Delta connection anywhere.
Delta resumed limited service from HPN to Atlanta on Mar. 2, flying its commuter jet CRJ-900, a 76-seater aircraft, three times a day—morning, afternoon, evening, Sunday through Friday. There will only be two flights on Saturdays. The CRJ’s are operated by Delta’s business partner, Endeavor.
The every-two-hour service with wide body Boeing 717’s, the standard before the coronavirus pandemic decimated air travel, has been abandoned—along with the 717’s.
What future changes Delta will make are dependent on the return of “normalcy” to air travel—a still unpredictable time. Delta’s previous non-stop service from HPN to Detroit has yet to be rescheduled.
HPN Airport Manager Peter Scherrer told the Westmore News that travelers choosing to fly United will still have to wait—he doesn’t expect United to return to HPN until sometime in May.
And, as usual, Scherrer cautions travelers to check with their airline of choice before booking—“everything,” he says, “is subject to change.”
