Roseann Mecca Di Giorgio, 75, a native of Port Chester, died peacefully at home Mar. 15, 2021.
Ro, as she was known to her family and friends, is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Salvatore, whom she married Apr. 18, 1970 in Rye.
Mrs. Di Giorgio is also survived by her daughter Suzanne and son-in-law Ralph Sirani of Harrison; one brother, Anthony, of Dumont, N.J., and her brother-in-law, Louis Di Giorgio of Port Chester.
She was predeceased by her parents, Canio and Katherine (Zaccagnino) and three brothers—Dominick, Joseph (Red) and Daniel Mecca.
She grew up in Port Chester, attended the Port Chester Public Schools and is a graduate of Port Chester High School Class of 1963.
She was a proud homemaker, devoted Catholic and had a remarkably devoted passion to her entire family and extended family; she would pray for everyone and anyone that needed her prayers.
She was known as “Red” by her husband Sal and they were inseparable for their entire marriage; if you saw one, right behind was the other.
In the spring and summer, if you drove by the house on Washington Street, you would probably see them in their lawn chairs on their front lawn keeping each other company, enjoying the weather and greeting people as they drove or walked by.
She always wore her rosary beads around her neck; she not only prayed for her husband, daughter and son-in-law, but for the entire family and extended families.
In addition to having her only daughter Suzanne, known as “Roseann’s angel” as Ro called her, she called every night up to the end.
She would treat other family members as if they were her own.
The highlight of Ro and Sal’s lives was not only the day they got married but when they saw Suzanne marry Ralph in 2018. Ralph was not the son-in-law; he was the “son” to her and Sal.
You would always look forward to seeing Ro look forward to the numerous family dinners, lunches and breakfasts that Ro always had, and we had to pray before we ate; a true Catholic.
She will always be remembered for her huge heart and her faith and devotion to her family; she will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
May she Rest in Peace in the loving hands of God; Ro, we will always love you and memorialize you.
There will be a Memorial Mass Sat., Apr. 24, at 11 a.m. at the Parish of St. John Bosco – Corpus Christi, 135 S. Regent St., Port Chester for those who wish to attend.
