The Reformed Church of Bronxville, 180 Pondfield Rd. and the Counseling Center of Bronxville are teaming up to present a conversation with CNN journalist S.E. Cupp and local resident Olivia Gravier Thurs., Dec. 2, 7-8:15 p.m. Both women will speak about their challenges to maintain good mental health while battling periods of anxiety. Kate Milligan Vaughey, member of the Counseling Center and a Deacon of the Reformed Church, will facilitate the conversation which will include two therapists from the Counseling Center. The City of New Rochelle will host a Holiday Market at its historic train station, providing entrepreneurship opportunities for local vendors during this season of giving. The Holiday Market will take place Fri.-Sun., Dec. 3-12, weekdays 2-8 p.m. and weekends 12-8 p.m. The City and its partners will host around 20 vendors featuring festive gifts, crafts and products as the City continues to focus on highlighting and providing local entrepreneurs with diverse and creative business opportunities. In addition to the selected vendors, the City will present daily festive attractions including giveaways, food samples, entertainment performances to mark the end of Hanukkah and Kwanzaa and more. Red Monkey Theater Group and M&M Performing Arts are offering performances of “Sherlock Holmes: A Scandal in Bohemia,” a new adaptation of the classic story by Arthur Conan Doyle, at Lyndhurst Mansion, 635 S. The production follows Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson at the inimitable Lyndhurst Mansion, where a mysterious masked visitor calls on them to assist in a matter of royal proportions. Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial, Rte. 35, Somers will present the Lasdon on the Hill Holiday Train Show, Sat., Nov. 27-Dec. 31. Rain or shine. The show has been expanded to more than 5,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor exhibition space. Start with a stroll through whimsical holiday scenes leading to the Conservatory where G-scale trains will be chugging on nine multi-level tracks, over bridges, under tunnels and through colorful holiday plants! The happy elf, Santa, will be available to meet with children in his Holiday Cottage located opposite the Conservatory at scheduled times during each session. Yorktown Stage will present “A Christmas Carol—A Story of Hope” Fri. & Sat., Nov. 26 & 27 at 2 & 7 p.m. Sun., Nov. 28 at 2 p.m.; Dec. 26 at 2 & 6 p.m. and Dec. 30 & 31 at 7:30 p.m. The musical is a brand new adaptation of the Charles Dickens’ classic set in London, Christmas 1843. Although published almost two centuries ago, the problems of society, wealth, poverty, relationships and struggles can still be recognized in our modern world. The story celebrates the importance of kindness, family, friends and community. ArtsWestchester’s Teen Tuesdays & Thursdays are back! Youth can join on a Tuesday or Thursday from 4:30-6 p.m. to participate in new creative and fun art-making activities led by professional teaching artists. The Katonah Museum of Art will present “Picture Our Journey,” on view in the Learning Center thru Jan. 23. The exhibition is presented in conjunction with Arrivals (see above) on view in the Museum’s main galleries. Picture Our Journey will feature original children’s picture book art that shares personal yet universal stories of immigration. Through illustrations and words, these stories give voice to topics such as the struggle to belong in one’s new home, the pain of separation, and the ties that bind immigrants to their country and culture of origin. Pelham Art Center at 155 Fifth Ave. is displaying a new public art installation, The Conversation Sculpture, by Brooklyn artist Musa Hixson. It is a 9 ft. x 6 ft. x 6 ft. steel sculpture that mimics a blooming flower with three seats enclosed in its frame. The interactive piece intends to facilitate new connections and encourage people to think differently about public space.
