EarthIrvington, a two-day outdoor festival, will take place Fri. & Sat., Oct. 1 & 2 at the O’Hara Nature Center, 170 Mountain Rd., Irvington. Parking is available but carpooling is suggested. Event uses the arts to promote practical, hyperlocal solutions for protecting the planet. It features musical performances, film screening and forums, sustainable eats and outdoor activities for the whole family. It begins with an open-air screening of “Wasted! The Story of Food Waste.” On Sat., Oct. 2 there will be guided tours of the Nature Center’s 400+ acres of forested trails. Rye Arts Center, 51 Milton Ave., is offering a New Musical Theater Workshop, Big Shot for ages 8-13. Seven classes begin Sat., Oct. 9, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Through this seven week workshop, participants will develop skills in singing, acting, character building, storytelling, musical theater performance and dance. Participants will work on the best material that Broadway has to offer and perform in large ensemble numbers plus their solo! Rye Arts Center, 51 Milton Rd. will present Loosen Up and Paint: A BYOB Night Out Wed., Oct. 27 & Nov. 17, 6:30-9 p.m. Ages 21 & over. An evening of self-expression through paint. Rye Nature Center, 873 Boston Post Rd., will host Oktoberfest Fri., Oct. 1, 7:30-10:30 p.m. This annual fundraiser is filled with hops, vines and delicious food. Jacob Burns Film Center’s 20th Annual Jewish Film Festival is taking place thru Oct. 14. This year’s festival features 24 thought-provoking, captivating, and entertaining films, including narratives and documentaries from Israel, the US, and around the world. Historic Hudson Valley has announced that tickets are on sale for their fall events. The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze is taking place thru Nov. 21 at Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-on-Hudson. The Katonah Museum of Art will present Picture Our Journey, on view in the Learning Center from Sun., Oct. 3-Jan. 23. The exhibition is presented in conjunction with Arrivals (see above) on view in the Museum’s main galleries. Picture Our Journey will feature original children’s picture book art that shares personal yet universal stories of immigration. Through illustrations and words, these stories give voice to topics such as the struggle to belong in one’s new home, the pain of separation, and the ties that bind immigrants to their country and culture of origin. The Katonah Museum of Art Gala will take place Sat., Oct. 16 at the American Yacht Club, 499 Stuyvesant Ave., Rye. Pelham Art Center at 155 Fifth Ave. is displaying a new public art installation. The Conversation Sculpture, by Brooklyn artist Musa Hixson. It is a 9 ft. x 6 ft. x 6 ft. steel sculpture that mimics a blooming flower with three seats enclosed in its frame. The interactive piece intends to facilitate new connections and encourage people to think differently about public space. The farmers market at Muscoot Farm, 51 Route 100, Katonah, has returned and will run every Sunday through Nov. 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Muscoot’s weekly farmers market supports farmers and sustainable efforts in our area, featuring over 20 local vendors each week. Westchester Parks Foundation and Westchester County Parks announced an expanded Bicycle Sundays season for 2021. The program takes place every Sunday through October except Columbus Day weekend. It is presented by Westchester County Parks and sponsored by the Westchester Parks Foundation and its partners through generous donations from co-presenting sponsors Con Edison and NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital. Danny Cycles returns as the exclusive bicycle shop. The annual event welcomes bicyclists, skaters, joggers, and walkers and runs from the Westchester County Center in White Plains, south to Scarsdale Road in Yonkers – a round-trip of 13.1 miles. There are many points of entry, exit and parking along the way. The event is free to the public.

Visit Muscoot Farm for the animals and stay for the art as the farm’s art shows return every weekend through October, 12-4 p.m. in the Main House first floor gallery at 51 Route 100, Katonah. Storm King Art Center, 1 Museum Rd, New Windsor, NY is presenting a site-specific installation of Rashid Johnson’s 2019 sculptural work The Crisis on view thru Nov. 8. The installation marks the first US presentation of the artwork, which the artist has adapted to respond directly to Storm King’s native landscape. The work—a 16-foot-tall, yellow pyramidal steel structure—is set within a field of native grasses, which Storm King has worked to reintroduce to its landscape and cultivate over the last 25 years.
