A Community Planting & Cleanup Day in celebration of Earth Week will take place Sat., Apr. 23 at Crawford Park, 122 N. Ridge St., Rye Brook; Rye Brook Senior Center at 32 Garibaldi Pl., Port Chester downtown and waterfront; Columbus Park, Mamaroneck and Rye Town Park, 95 Dearborn Ave., Rye. 9-11 a.m. Help beautify our communities with new pollinator plantings at any of the five locations. Rye Brook F.I.T (Fitness Initiative Together) is organizing a fun 5K walk around the Country Ridge area to support this community walking initiative Sat., Apr. 30 at 9:30 a.m. at BMP Ridge Street School, 390 N. Ridge St. There will be some giveaways for the free event. Stretch/Rye Book will do a group stretch prior to the walk and after the walk. They will also be taking names for potential walking groups among residents to create a feel of community because walking is always better when done with company. Rye Brook Recreation will be hosting a cornhole tournament Sat., May 14 at Pine Ridge Park on the main lawn in front of the playground. Brackets will be broken down by age group: 12 & under; 18 & under and +40. Teams will have a maximum of 4 players on their roster and they will accept a maximum of 8 teams per division. Have fun and get messy as they walk you through the basics of throwing on the potter’s wheel. Create a unique piece of pottery, then choose a glaze from their studio selection. Cerebral Palsy Westchester, 1186 King St., Rye Brook will offer the Jimmy Vejar Summer Day Camp June 27-Aug. 12. It is an inclusive camp for children, teens and young adults with all abilities, ages 5-21. Campers will take part in a variety of activities including swimming, sports, arts & crafts, festive barbeques, field trips and special events.
