The Village of Rye Brook will host an Arbor Day Ceremony Fri., Apr. 29 at 9 a.m. at Pine Ridge Park, Latonia Road.: Come celebrate Rye Brook's 26th year as a Tree City USA. Rye Brook F.I.T (Fitness Initiative Together) is organizing a fun 5K walk around the Country Ridge area to support this community walking initiative Sat., Apr. 30 at 9:30 a.m. at BMP Ridge Street School, 390 N. Ridge St. There will be some giveaways for the free event. Stretch/Rye Book will do a group stretch prior to the walk and after the walk. They will also be taking names for potential walking groups among residents to create a feeling of community, because walking is always better when done with company. The Crit Lab, 6 N. Pearl St., 4th floor, Port Chester, is presenting the exhibit “Intimacies” thru Sat., Apr. 30. League of Women Voters of Rye, Rye Brook and Port Chester will hold a Blind Brook Board of Education candidate forum on Wed., May 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Blind Brook High School, 840 King St., with the three candidates running for election on May 17.
Rye Brook Recreation will be hosting a cornhole tournament Sat., May 14 at Pine Ridge Park on the main lawn in front of the playground. Brackets will be broken down by age group: 12 & under; 18 & under and +40. Teams will have a maximum of 4 players on their roster and they will accept a maximum of 8 teams per division. The Port Chester Mobile Pantry will be at Drew Gardens, 10-22 Drew St., Port Chester Sat., May 7 at 1 p.m. Everyone must bring their own reusable bag. The Mobile Pantry makes food more accessible in under-served neighborhoods where people may not be able to access food through traditional grocery stores or food pantries. CDC guidelines will be followed to ensure community safety.
The Blind Brook High School annual Sophomore Circus will take place Fri., May 6, 4-8 p.m. in the Commons and the High School Gym, 840 King St., Rye Brook. The event will feature games, prizes, food, jumping castle, haunted house, spin art, sand art, magnetic darts, disc game, tabletop bowling, ring toss, many more games plus pizza, candy, snacks and cupcakes.
Margot Metzger of Rye Brook, a member of Congregation K.T.I. and its immediate past-president, will be honored by the Westchester Jewish Council as a recipient of the Julian F. Bernstein Distinguished Service Award Tues., May 10 at Temple Israel Center of White Plains at 280 Old Mamaroneck Rd. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Rye Brook Recreation will offer a 6-week Summer Day Camp and Teen Travel Camp, July 5-Aug. 12, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Registration is open and discounted rates end Sat., Apr. 30. Early registration rates: Day Camp--$1000 for first child ($1150 after Apr. 30); additional child is $800 ($900 after Apr. 30). Travel Camp: $1,800 ($1900 after Apr. 30). You can send your child/children for as many weeks as you like also. Day Camp is for boys and girls entering K-6th grade; Teen Travel Camp is for boys and girls entering 7th-10th grade. Cerebral Palsy Westchester, 1186 King St., Rye Brook will offer the Jimmy Vejar Summer Day Camp June 27-Aug. 12. It is an inclusive camp for children, teens and young adults with all abilities, ages 5-21. Campers will take part in a variety of activities including swimming, sports, arts & crafts, festive barbeques, field trips and special events.
