The past four games have been tough ones for the Rye Town/Harrison Titans.

On Saturday, Dec. 3, the Titans battled the highly ranked Mt. Pleasant Ice Cats who have yet to lose a game. The Titans struggled offensively most of the game. They had one shot on goal throughout the third period. The goalies were faced with numerous shots and made some very strong saves. Captain Luke Boraczek (Harrison senior) made 16 saves and CJ Stumpf (Blind Brook sophomore) made eight. It was a challenging game that ended in a 6-0 loss.

After that difficult defeat, the Titans were determined to use their skating skills and bring their energy to the ice against the Rivertown Legends at Playland Ice Casino on Tuesday, Dec. 6. This game was action packed and full of excitement from start to finish.

The first period ended with the Legends leading 2-1. It was a close period with lots of shots on both ends. At the conclusion of the second period, the Legends were leading 4-2. Although they were down by two goals, the Titans showed their resilience and made some outstanding plays during the third period. They were able to cut the lead by one goal with less than 10 minutes left in the period.

It was a wild game that ended in dramatic fashion. Captain Aidan Cohn (Blind Brook senior) scored a goal with 30 seconds left in the game to tie it up. However, due to a controversial call, the goal was not counted. It was a frustrating way to end a game in which the Titans showed both grit and resilience. Cohn had two assists, Max Tse (Harrison junior) had three goals and Jack Mazella (Harrison freshman) had one.

On Saturday, Dec. 10 the Titans succumbed to the Scarsdale Raiders 10-0. The next day they were back on the ice playing the Byram Hills Bobcats at Ebersole Ice Rink in White Plains and suffered another tough loss, falling to Byram Hills 7-4. Cohn and Ethan Leland (Blind Brook junior) each scored a goal in the defeat.

“We got off to a good start winning our first two games in the White Plains tournament,” said coach Rich Myers. “Our third game has been postponed twice due to rain and fog at the outdoor rink. We have hit a little bit of a rough patch. We just need to quickly regroup as a team and get little things corrected. And we hope to finish strong with our last two games before the holiday break.”

The game against White Plains initially rescheduled for Dec. 7 was once again postponed to a later date.

While the past few games have been disappointing, the Titans are ready for their next contest on Saturday, Dec. 17 against Pearl River at Sport-O-Rama Ice Rinks in Monsey where they hope to be victorious. That matchup will be followed by a Tuesday, Dec. 20 game against the Carmel Rams at Playland Ice Casino in Rye.
