Community invited to annual Black History Month Poetry Slam
February 10, 2022 at 9:19 a.m.
It’s been a few years since Port Chester High School students and staff have been able to embrace their proud Black History Month tradition—the annual Phillis Wheatley Poetry Slam.
The COVID-19 pandemic, as it does with just about everything, had hindered their ability to continue the powerful, passionate celebration of the arts. But this year, the school is eager to bring it back, and organizers are inviting the community to join.
The 18th annual poetry slam, featuring student writers, will be held in the Port Chester High School Library on Wednesday, Feb. 16. The event starts at 4 p.m. and refreshments will be served.
All are invited to attend the free event.
