SPRYE lowers age for membership eligibility

SPRYE, a not-for-profit organization serving older adults in Port Chester, Rye Brook, Rye and Harrison, is excited to announce that it has lowered its minimum membership age from 60 to 55, effective as of January 2022.
This change will make it possible for more individuals to take advantage of the expanded online and in-person offerings SPRYE brings to its members to keep them meaningfully engaged during these uncertain times.
SPRYE, founded in 2011 by area residents, celebrated its 10th anniversary last fall. This milestone prompted the board to reflect on how best to meet their communities’ current and evolving needs for a new reality. The pandemic has reduced everyone’s opportunities for the kind of social connections and stimulating activities SPRYE provides. More and younger adults reflected concerns over determining safe gatherings and practices when seeking worthwhile events. This prompted the organization to welcome members as young as 55 and increase programming to stimulate a wider range of interest. Accompanying this change, SPRYE took a fresh approach to naming its membership categories to reflect this expansion.
SPRYE Basic membership (formerly known as Associate membership) provides enhanced programs, luncheons, outings, and technology assistance to keep a wide range of older adults connected in meaningful ways. SPRYE +Plus membership (formerly known as Full membership) includes all the offerings of the basic SPRYE level, plus round-trip transportation to appointments, friendly visits, Care Team check-ins, and the assistance of a Certified Senior Advisor in planning for the future.
SPRYE is a member-based organization for adults 55 and older who want to live confidently at home and stay connected to their community in meaningful ways.
