The 16th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration will take place at the Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Rd., Wilton Sun., Jan. 16 at 3 p.m. Free admission. It will feature an afternoon of celebration and reflection honoring the life and work of Dr. King and will feature musical performances from local organizations and a keynote address by media contributor and author Heather McGhee. Westchester Children’s Museum at 100 Playland Parkway, Rye presents Museum Minis Fri., Jan. 7, 14, 21 & 28, 11-11:30 a.m. Children ages 6-30 months are invited into Toddler Beach, where they will learn new songs, fingerplays, movement games, hear stories and more! Edith G. Read Wildlife Sanctuary, 1 Playland Parkway, Rye will offer Animals in Hibernation Sat., Jan. 8, 2-3:30 p.m. Ever wonder where all of those animals go during the winter? Many animals hibernate, but hibernation can take many different forms. In this program learn more about different types of hibernation for all sorts of different animals found in the sanctuary. Trailside Nature Center at Ward Pound Reservation, Rtes. 35 & 121 S., Cross River will offer Aquatic Life in the Winter Sat., Jan. 8, 1-2 p.m. Participants will learn how fish, frogs and other aquatic animals stay alive once ponds and lakes freeze over. Hilltop Hanover Farm, 1271 Hanover St., Yorktown Heights will offer a Winter Seed Propagation Workshop Sat., Jan. 8, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. In this hands-on demonstration class, led by Emily Rauch, Native Plant Program manager, learn how to stratify and winter sow native seeds. During the workshop you will discuss terminology and learn about different methods to use. Everyone will leave with seed stratifying material (including local-ecotype seeds) and a full tray of planted seeds. The New Castle Historical Society, 100 King St., Chappaqua is presenting the Great Holiday Train Show thru Sun., Jan. 9. ArtsWestchester’s Teen Tuesdays & Thursdays are back! Youth can join on a Tuesday or Thursday from 4:30-6 p.m. to participate in new creative and fun art-making activities led by professional teaching artists. Workshops are temporarily being held next door to ArtsWestchester at the White Plains City Center, 3rd floor at 19 Mamaroneck Ave. For the safety of participants, social distancing and masks will be enforced regardless of vaccination status. “The Solomon Diaries”/Album Release event will take place Sat., Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. at Temple Israel of New Rochelle, 1000 Pinebrook Ave. An Original Musical Tribute to the Borscht Belt featuring Sam Sadigursky and Nathan Koci. Inspired by the rise and fall of the Borscht Belt, clarinetist/composer Sadigursky’s “The Solomon Diaries” reflects on the freedom, rebellion, celebration, tradition, independence, loss, hope, and renewal of the Jewish community. His original compositions will be performed live in the Temple sanctuary, accompanied by accordionist, Nathan Koci. St. Paul’s National Historic Site, 897 S. Columbus Ave., Mt. Vernon will present a performance of “Stand Off at Staten Island,” a new play that dramatizes the fateful Peace Conference at Staten Island in Sept. 1776, with Lord Richard Howe of England, and American leaders John Adams and Benjamin Franklin meeting to consider a British proposal to end the Revolutionary War Sat., Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. This is a live program, and reservations are required through the Calendar section of the St. Paul’s website, www.nps.gov › sapa

Katonah Museum of Art at 134 Jay St. is presenting “Arrivals,” a new exhibition that explores American origin stories through five centuries of art. On view thru Jan. 23. The Katonah Museum of Art presents “Picture Our Journey,” on view in the Learning Center thru Jan. 23 in conjunction with Arrivals (see above) on view in the Museum’s main galleries. Picture Our Journey features original children’s picture book art that shares personal yet universal stories of immigration. Through illustrations and words, these stories give voice to topics such as the struggle to belong in one’s new home, the pain of separation, and the ties that bind immigrants to their country and culture of origin. Pelham Art Center at 155 Fifth Ave. is displaying a new public art installation, The Conversation Sculpture, by Brooklyn artist Musa Hixson. It is a 9 ft. x 6 ft. x 6 ft. steel sculpture that mimics a blooming flower with three seats enclosed in its frame. The interactive piece intends to facilitate new connections and encourage people to think differently about public space.
