Putnam Ave. will present “Dining in the Dark: A Famed Restaurant Critic’s Struggle with and Triumph Over Depression” with Bryan Miller, New York Times food critic, Sun., Jan. 16 at 11:15 a.m. Miller will join with David Michonski in a Q&A to speak about his battle with Bipolar II disorder, which ruined his life professionally and personally, and how he overcame his depression and rebuilt his life. ArtsWestchester’s Teen Tuesdays & Thursdays are back! Youth can join on a Tuesday or Thursday from 4:30-6 p.m. to participate in new creative and fun art-making activities led by professional teaching artists. Curtain Call’s Dressing Room Theatre, 1349 Newfield Ave., Stamford, Ct. will present Agatha Christie’s “Murder On the Orient Express” Thurs., Jan. 20-Feb. 6. The play follows the adventures of the dashing Belgian detective Hercule Poirot as he is called back from Istanbul to London on urgent business. He intends to book a first-class compartment on the Orient Express, run by his former friend and colleague, Monsieur Bouc. The train is surprisingly full, but Bouc manages to secure Poirot a spot in the first-class cabin. While aboard the Orient Express, Poirot meets a host of peculiar characters: an aging Russian princess, her Swedish companion, a Hungarian countess, a Minnesota housewife, a Scottish colonel, an English governess, a French conductor, a disagreeable American businessman and his anxious secretary. Performances will be Thurs.-Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. Doors open 1/2 hour before show time. The Katonah Museum of Art presents “Picture Our Journey,” on view in the Learning Center thru Jan. 23 in conjunction with “Arrivals” (see above), on view in the Museum’s main galleries. “Picture Our Journey” features original children’s picture book art that shares personal yet universal stories of immigration. Through illustrations and words, these stories give voice to topics such as the struggle to belong in one’s new home, the pain of separation, and the ties that bind immigrants to their country and culture of origin. Pelham Art Center at 155 Fifth Ave. is displaying a new public art installation, “The Conversation Sculpture,” by Brooklyn artist Musa Hixson. It is a 9 ft. x 6 ft. x 6 ft. steel sculpture that mimics a blooming flower with three seats enclosed in its frame. The interactive piece intends to facilitate new connections and encourage people to think differently about public space.
