ArtsWestchester’s Teen Tuesdays & Thursdays are back! Youth can join on a Tuesday or Thursday from 4:30-6 p.m. to participate in new creative and fun art-making activities led by professional teaching artists. Workshops are temporarily being held next door to ArtsWestchester at the White Plains City Center, 3rd floor at 19 Mamaroneck Ave. For the safety of participants, social distancing and masks will be enforced regardless of vaccination status. A well-known veteran actress can’t remember her lines. A middle-aged woman who sacrificed her creative life to secure her marriage is left by her husband. Random Farms Kids’ Theater will present Seussical™ at The Paramount Hudson Valley Theater, 1008 Brown St., Peekskill, Fri.-Sun., Jan. 28-30. More than 40 young actors ages 8-17 will perform in the show, which marks the first Mainstage production to return to in-person performances since 2020. Curtain Call’s Dressing Room Theatre, 1349 Newfield Ave., Stamford, Ct. will present Agatha Christie’s “Murder On the Orient Express” thru Feb. 6. The play follows the adventures of the dashing Belgian detective Hercule Poirot as he is called back from Istanbul to London on urgent business. He intends to book a first-class compartment on the Orient Express, run by his former friend and colleague, Monsieur Bouc. The train is surprisingly full, but Bouc manages to secure Poirot a spot in the first-class cabin. While aboard the Orient Express, Poirot meets a host of peculiar characters: an aging Russian princess, her Swedish companion, a Hungarian countess, a Minnesota housewife, a Scottish colonel, an English governess, a French conductor, a disagreeable American businessman and his anxious secretary. Performances will be Thurs.-Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. Doors open 1/2 hour before show time. The Katonah Museum of Art presents “Picture Our Journey,” on view in the Learning Center thru Jan. 23 in conjunction with “Arrivals” (see above), on view in the Museum’s main galleries. “Picture Our Journey” features original children’s picture book art that shares personal yet universal stories of immigration. Through illustrations and words, these stories give voice to topics such as the struggle to belong in one’s new home, the pain of separation, and the ties that bind immigrants to their country and culture of origin. In a country filled with families that trace their roots back to other homelands, these stories have resonated throughout American history and are woven into the vibrant fabric of our nation. Pelham Art Center at 155 Fifth Ave. is displaying a new public art installation, “The Conversation Sculpture,” by Brooklyn artist Musa Hixson. It is a 9 ft. x 6 ft. x 6 ft. steel sculpture that mimics a blooming flower with three seats enclosed in its frame. The interactive piece intends to facilitate new connections and encourage people to think differently about public space.
