ArtsWestchester’s Teen Tuesdays & Thursdays are back! Youth can join on a Tuesday or Thursday from 4:30-6 p.m. to participate in new creative and fun art-making activities led by professional teaching artists. Workshops are temporarily being held next door to ArtsWestchester at the White Plains City Center, 3rd floor at 19 Mamaroneck Ave. For the safety of participants, social distancing and masks will be enforced regardless of vaccination status. The Picture House, 175 Wolfs La., Pelham will present “Drive My Car,” Fri.-Thurs., Jan. 28-Feb. 3. Drive My Car is a haunting road movie traveling a path of love, loss, acceptance, and peace and “Flee,” Fri., Feb. 4-17. Flee tells the story of Amin Nawabi, a man grappling with a painful secret he has kept hidden for 20 years, one that threatens to derail the life he has built for himself and his soon to be husband. Recounted mostly through animation, Amin tells for the first time the story of his extraordinary journey as a child refugee from Afghanistan. The Picture House, 175 Wolfs La., Pelham will offer February Break Camp, Feb. 22–25, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. for students in grades K-5. In partnership with Good For You Productions, and under the leadership of instructor Jeffrey Cobelli, students will brainstorm ideas for an original short film and then see that film come to life! Hudson Stage Company will present a staged reading of “What Keeps Us Going,” a series of new plays Sat., Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Whippoorwill Hall Theatre, North Castle Public Library, Kent Place, Armonk. Curtain Call’s Dressing Room Theatre, 1349 Newfield Ave., Stamford, Ct. will present Agatha Christie’s “Murder On the Orient Express” thru Sun., Feb. 6. The play follows the adventures of the dashing Belgian detective Hercule Poirot as he is called back from Istanbul to London on urgent business. He intends to book a first-class compartment on the Orient Express, run by his former friend and colleague, Monsieur Bouc. The train is surprisingly full, but Bouc manages to secure Poirot a spot in the first-class cabin. While aboard the Orient Express, Poirot meets a host of peculiar characters: an aging Russian princess, her Swedish companion, a Hungarian countess, a Minnesota housewife, a Scottish colonel, an English governess, a French conductor, a disagreeable American businessman and his anxious secretary. Performances will be Thurs.-Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. Doors open 1/2 hour before show time. Westport County Playhouse at 25 Powers Court, Westport, Ct., has announced its summer Joanne Woodward Internship Program for emerging arts professionals. Internships in stage management, props/scenic painting, wardrobe, marketing, company management, education, and development will run from May 28-Aug. 21. While on campus, interns work directly with senior staff and gain crucial on-the-job experience in a vibrant and innovative professional theater. Weekly intern seminars feature a variety of guest speakers, including Playhouse staff members, visiting designers and artists, commercial producers, and more. Interns reside in provided housing for the length of their term; each intern will have their own room. The residence is located approximately eight miles from the Playhouse in Fairfield, Connecticut. Transportation to work is the responsibility of the intern but travel stipends may be available. Pelham Art Center at 155 Fifth Ave. is displaying a new public art installation, “The Conversation Sculpture,” by Brooklyn artist Musa Hixson. It is a 9 ft. x 6 ft. x 6 ft. steel sculpture that mimics a blooming flower with three seats enclosed in its frame. The interactive piece intends to facilitate new connections and encourage people to think differently about public space.
