Independence Day, Mon., July 4, is a federal holiday. Government offices, most banks the library and the post office will be closed; there will be no mail delivery. In Rye Brook, Mon. garbage collections move to Tues.; Tues. collections will be Wed.; Wed.-Fri. garbage, recycling and bulk collections are unchanged; no green waste collection this week. In Port Chester, Mon. garbage and recycling will be collected Tues.; Tues. collections move to Wed.; Thurs. & Fri. collections are unchanged. No curbside bulk trash or green waste collection this week. Violators will be subject to summons and fines.

The Village of Rye Brook is hosting Ice Cream Fridays every Fri. in July, 6-7:30 p.m. in Pine Ridge Park, Latonia Road.

The Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library, 1 Haseco Ave., is offering a Grab & Go Coloring Bookmark. Children will receive a Grab & Go Coloring Bookmark and crayons to take home and keep; a Grab & Go Summer Craft. Children will be given a bag with all the pieces they need to make 2 summer crafts at home. Register by July 14 and Grab & Go Rock Painting Kits for children, tweens, teens, adults, seniors and families. The Port Chester Rye Brook Public Library, 1 Haseco Ave., Port Chester is offering several programs this summer including a Summer Reading Program. Children of all ages can visit the library to sign up for this program. Children will be given a bingo board to record they books they read. Once they get bingo, they can come back to the library with their bingo board for a prize; Summer Storywalk thru Sept. 2. Enjoy walking around the lawn and reading “Smiley Shark” by Ruth Galloway. All shows at The Capitol Theatre and Garcia’s in Port Chester during the height of the pandemic have been canceled or postponed. Following is the current information from The Capitol: Rescheduled: Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets, Mon., Sept. 26 (originally Jan. 24, 2022) and Steve Vai, Thurs., Oct. 27 (originally Feb. 26, 2022). Yet to be rescheduled: Rival Sons, Ripe. Canceled shows: Bella Fleck & The Fleckstones; Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Lake Street Drive, Bombay Bicycle Club, ichael Franti, Sunrise Day Camp Benefit, Billy Strings, Saving Grace, The Fab Faux and Devon Allman Band & Samantha Fish Band (previously June 17, 2022). Refund at point of purchase. Original tickets will be honored on the new date and tickets for all performances can be purchased at www.ticketfly.com.

Health Insurance Navigation Help, offered by the Westchester County Department of Health, takes place at the Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library Tuesdays, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. by appointment only. Free. Rye Brook Recreation will offer a 6-week Summer Day Camp and Teen Travel Camp, July 5-Aug. 12, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Registration is open. Day Camp--$1150 for first child; additional child is $900. Travel Camp: $1,900. You can send your child/children for as many weeks as you like also.
