Thanksgiving Day is Thurs., Nov. 24. Government offices in the Town of Rye and the Villages of Port Chester and Rye Brook will be closed Thurs. & Fri. as will Port Chester and Blind Brook schools which will have early dismissal Nov. 23. Most banks and the post office will be closed Nov. 24—no mail delivery. The Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library will be open 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Nov. 23 and will be closed Nov. 24. In Port Chester Thurs. sanitation pickups move to Wed.; Mon., Tues. & Fri. collections are unchanged. No bulk or green waste collection this week. Blind Brook High School, 840 King St, Rye Brook will present their fall drama, William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Sat., Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. A Community Clean Up Day will be held Sun., Nov. 20, 9-11 a.m. Burn some calories before the holiday with the Port Chester Beautification Commission. They will be getting the flower beds on the waterfront ready for winter and providing tips for planting in difficult conditions and will also be cleaning the downtown area between the train station and the waterfront. Rye Brook Clean Up Day will take place Sun., Nov. 29, 9-11 a.m. on Bowman Avenue. Sign up at table on Bowman Avenue in front of Port Chester Middle School baseball field.

The Tamarack Tower Foundation’s annual Turkey Trot will be held Thurs., Nov. 24 at Port Chester High School. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The race/run will begin at 9:30 a.m. This is a 1.7-mile run/walk which begins at the flagpole at the high school and continues onto College Avenue to Haines Blvd.—around Haines Blvd.—in front of Park Avenue School bearing right onto Barton Place, right onto Neuton Avenue and ending back at the flagpole. Runners and walkers will cover the course twice. Proceeds will pay for scholarships and special projects to enhance the Port Chester School District. www.tamaracktower.org
