The last event of the Great Lawn Summer Series will take place in Crawford Park, 122 N. Ridge St., Rye Brook, Fri., Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. featuring Gil Parris & Friends performing cool jazz. Free. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and purchase food from one of the food trucks or bring a picnic meal. The concert will be held indoors in case of rain.

Labor Day will be observed Mon., Sept. 5. It is a federal holiday in the U.S. to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the work and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the U.S. Government offices in the Town of Rye and the Villages of Port Chester and Rye Brook will be closed Sept. 5. Most banks and the post office will be closed; there will be no mail delivery. The Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library will be closed Sat. & Mon., Sept. 3 & 5. In Rye Brook, Mon. garbage will be collected Tues., Tues. collections move to Wed.; Wed.-Fri. collections remain the same. Recycling and bulk collections are unchanged. No green waste collection this week. In Port Chester, Mon. collections move to Tues., Tues. collections move to Wed.; Thurs. & Fri. collections are unchanged. There will be no curbside and/or green waste collection Wed., Sept. 7. Do not place bulk or green waste at the curb Tues. night or Wed. Violators will be subject to summons and fine.

Tues., Sept. 6 is the first day of school for students in the Port Chester and Blind Brook school districts.

Clay Art Center, 40 Beech St., Port Chester has announced that registration is open for their Fall Youth & Family classes that start Tues., Sept. 6. Have your kids unplug with mud at a weekly Youth Handbuilding & WheelClass (ages 10-17) or try clay for the first time in a one-time class Saturday Clay Family Classes (ages 6+) or Family Wheel Night (ages 10+). All shows at The Capitol Theatre and Garcia’s in Port Chester during the height of the pandemic have been canceled or postponed. Following is the current information from The Capitol: Rescheduled: Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets, Mon., Sept. 26 (originally Jan. 24, 2022) and Steve Vai, Thurs., Oct. 27 (originally Feb. 26, 2022). Yet to be rescheduled: Rival Sons, Ripe. Canceled shows: Bella Fleck & The Fleckstones; Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Lake Street Drive, Bombay Bicycle Club, Michael Franti, Sunrise Day Camp Benefit, Billy Strings, Saving Grace, The Fab Faux and Devon Allman Band & Samantha Fish Band (previously June 17, 2022).
