The Dobbs Ferry Historical Society will commemorate the 241st anniversary of the Continental Army’s departure from our area Sun., Sept. 18 with a 1½ mile march tracing the beginning of the route. The Donald Gallery at the South Presbyterian Church, 343 S. Broadway, Dobbs Ferry will feature the exhibit, If You Are Quiet: An Artistic Journey in Joy, Discovery, and Nature, Sun., Sept. 11-Oct. 23. The opening will be Sun., Sept. 11, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The works of Westchester County’s Kathleen McCarthy-Udoff, an intergenerational theater educator inspired to launch a fine arts career in her 50’s to “quiet the world a little,” will be featured. SUNY Westchester Community College, 75 Grasslands Rd., Valhalla will present The Sculpture of Ronald Bladen at its art gallery thru Nov. 30. The exhibit is open to the public. Exhibit features five artists of Caribbean/Latin Caribbean and African descent and surveys paintings, performance art and video/film. Pelham Art Center at 155 Fifth Ave. is displaying a new public art installation, “The Conversation Sculpture,” by Brooklyn artist Musa Hixson. It is a 9 ft. x 6 ft. x 6 ft. steel sculpture that mimics a blooming flower with three seats enclosed in its frame. The interactive piece intends to facilitate new connections and encourage people to think differently about public space. The installation will be on display through June 20, 2023 and their fall exhibition Ultralight Beam, Thurs., Sept. 15-Oct. 30. The selected group of artists use and depict spirituality, visionary methods, religion and/or concepts concerning the metaphysical, intangible or other worldly realms beyond our empirical understanding of reality.
