Blind Brook Boys Varsity Soccer will hold a car wash Sat., Sept. 17, 1-4 p.m., in the BBHS/MS parking lot, 840 King St., Rye Brook. $15 per car; $20 per SUV.

Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, will begin at sundown Sun., Sept. 25 and corresponds to the year 5783 on the Hebrew calendar. Rosh Hashana, which means head of the year, is celebrated for two days by Orthodox and Conservative congregations and for one day by Reform congregations. The holiday is marked by the sounding of the shofar (ram’s horn), eating apples dipped in honey and other sweet foods for a sweet new year. It begins the 10 days of repentance culminating on Yom Kippur. Area synagogues will hold services in person and livestreamed.
