Doral Greens Homeowners Association (DGHOA) residents anxious to have the no-longer-manicured golf fairways that run through and around their property mowed for the 2023 growing season—fairways that are now controlled by Charles Cohen, the owner of the defunct Doral Arrowwood hotel property—have some good news via Rye Brook Village Administrator Chris Bradbury.

Asked by the Westmore News about negotiations overseen by Bradbury involving regular grass cutting that meets current state law on untended properties, Bradbury e-mailed: “Doral Greens, the Cohen representatives and the village have been meeting and are working toward a resolution of the lawn maintenance issues. The conversations have been productive from my standpoint.”

Translation: that grass will most likely be cut by Cohen’s company.

Another issue involving Mother Nature—the collection and disposition of dead tree leaves through gas-powered leaf blowers.

Bradbury says under the proposed Village law as currently drafted “any property owner who maintains more than five acres can apply for an exemption.”

Reacting to Bradbury’s assessment, DGHOA President David Ruzow e-mailed that “we are happy the Village board amended the proposed law, because as originally written (it) would have made maintaining our large tract of land very difficult. We appreciate their taking the time to listen and make changes which will benefit everyone.”
