Olivia Perone of Rye Brook has been named to Purchase College's Dean's List for the Spring 2023 semester. Olivia is studying Theatre and Performance, Playwriting and Screenwriting. To be eligible for the Dean's List, students must carry a semester GPA of 3.5 for Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science programs and 3.75 for Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Music Performance programs and must take a minimum of 12 credits.

The Rye Brook Senior Center, 32 Garibaldi Pl., will be closed Mon., Aug. 28-Tues., Sept. 6.

On Port Chester Day, Sat., Aug. 26 at Lyon Park, the League of Women Voters of Rye, Rye Brook and Port Chester will be present to provide voter registration forms.

The Rye Brook Recreation Fall 2023 Brochure is now online and available for viewing on their website, www.ryebrook.org/activities-programs with some new and exciting programs and events this year. Online registration will begin Wed., Sept. 6 at 9:30 a.m. The After School Program and Impact Pickleball is open, Grit Ninja and Snapology will open for registration Fri., Aug. 25.

The Salvation Army in Port Chester is holding a drive for school supplies in advance of the beginning of the school year for distribution to children in need in Port Chester, Rye Brook and Rye. The following items are requested: spiral notebooks, composition books, backpacks (new), Casio FX-55 Plus calculators, dividers, index cards, 3x5”, retractable ballpoint pens, highlighters, construction paper, pencils, colored pencils, washable markers, glue sticks and crayons (box of 24). The items can be left in a box in the driveway at 48 Meadowlark Rd., Rye Brook. Items will be collected thru Aug. 28.

The next Port Chester High School Marching Band bottle and can recycling collection will be Sun., Sept. 3, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., in the Middle School parking lot on Bowman Avenue, Rye Brook. Collections generally take place on the first and third Sunday of each month. Call 914/200-1464 for updated information.

The Excelsior Scholarship, in combination with other student financial aid programs, allows students to attend a SUNY or CUNY college tuition-free. The program covers tuition for eligible SUNY and CUNY students. For the 2023-24 academic year, families that earned $125,000 or less in the tax year 2021 are eligible to apply. The Rye Farmers Market is held Sundays thru Dec. 3, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the parking lot on Theodore Fremd Avenue. It features baked goods, cheese, flowers, eggs, herbs, vegetables, honey, jams, meats, nuts, poultry and fruits.

The NYS DMV is undertaking a summer-long underage drinking crackdown on the use of fake IDs to purchase alcohol at concert venues statewide. It will continue thru Sept. 17. 

At Congregation KTI it is a Mitzvah (good deed) moment for all to help feed those in the community who are needy. All food collected in KTI’s ongoing drive is being given to the Salvation Army in Port Chester. Food requested includes cans of tuna, chicken, vegetables, beans and fruit as well as pasta, 10-16-ounce bags/boxes of white rice, snacks, shelf-stable milk, healthy cereals, macaroni and cheese and canned meals like Chef-Boy-r-Dee, chili, etc. The food can be left in bins in Leslie Brandeis Novack's driveway at 48 Meadowlark Rd., Rye Brook.
