Zyloware to offer free exams, glasses to Port Chester residents on June 6

Eye health tends to be a neglected sect of medical care, said Jacqueline Janiec, the vice president of marketing with Zyloware.
“It’s an important part of preventative care. You go to the dentist and the OBGYN once a year, and eye health is just as critical as anything else,” she said. “They’ve found clogged arteries and diabetes…you can figure out a multitude of diseases with eye exams.”
To raise awareness on the importance of eye health—specifically, of receiving an annual comprehensive eye exam—Zyloware, an eyeglasses company at 8 Slater St., is celebrating National Eyewear Day by offering free examinations and glasses to Port Chester residents.
On Tuesday, June 6, the community is invited to visit the Slater Street facility between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. for a free eye exam. No appointment is needed.
If professionals from Optical Academy, the medical officials who will be onsite conducting eye exams and vision screenings, determine a prescription is needed, Port Chester residents can get free frames from Zyloware at the event.
“We wanted to help drive people into our customer retail location by matching a philanthropic initiative while helping our customers,” Janiec said.
National Eyewear Day has been a Zyloware tradition for the last eight years, where, aside from a COVID-19 related hiatus, the retail store has offered this event to the Port Chester community annually.
