Memorial Day observances Monday, May 29

All the pre-COVID events commemorating Memorial Day, including the parade, are back for the second year. Port Chester American Legion Post 93 will host these dedications to all the veterans who have given their life to preserve our country’s freedom on Monday, May 29.
The day will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a Memorial Service at the Port Chester Marina to honor those servicemen who served and died at sea. It will include a firing team, a bugler playing Taps and throwing flowers into the water.
The group of veterans, local officials and members of the public will move on to all the war memorials in Port Chester and Rye Brook, where similar ceremonies will take place and memorial wreaths will be placed, and end up at Veterans’ Memorial Park at 11 a.m. for the main ceremony of the day followed by the parade at around noon which will process down Westchester Avenue to Broad Street.

8:35: William James Memorial Park, North Main Street near the Connecticut border
8:55: Vietnam Memorial, Lyon Park, corner of King Street and Putnam Avenue
9:15: Spanish-American War Memorial, Summerfield Park
9:40: Civil War Memorial, Pearl and New Broad streets
10:00: American Legion Post 93, 78 Pearl St.
10:15: Fire Department Headquarters, Westchester Avenue
10:45: Korean War Memorial, entrance to Crawford Park
11:00: Veterans’ Memorial Park, Westchester Avenue and North Regent Street
12:00: Parade down Westchester Avenue to Broad Street
