Richard A. Russo: Car dealership owner

Richard A. Russo, 79, of Port Chester and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., a devoted spouse and loving father, died Sept. 4, 2023.

He was born in NYC in 1943 to Ann and Louis Russo.

He attended New York University and began his career on Wall Street at Salomon Brothers, then left finance to pursue his love of cars and went on to open three dealer franchises in Westchester County, including Russo Pontiac on New Broad Street in Port Chester.

Mr. Russo is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dana, and his children Nicole (Thomas) Steinthal and Stephanie (Mario) DiLeo; five grandchildren: TJ, Daisy, Peyton, Luke, and Julian; his sister Stephanie (Gary) Thiel; two nieces, Lori (Chris) Mascetta and Lisa (Coleman) Lawrence, and one nephew, Louis Thiel.

He cherished his life with his wife, two daughters, sons-in-law and adoring grandchildren.

He was an avid supporter of many local charities and organizations, such as Covenant House, Holy Rosary Church, Toys for Tots, Convent of the Sacred Heart, Boston College and Syracuse University.

Mr. Russo will be fondly remembered as a very generous, dependable friend with a deep faith in God and devotion to family.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life at Resurrection Church in Rye, Saturday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m.
