The Port Chester Fire Department 200th Anniversary Grand Dress Parade will take place on Westchester Avenue Sun., Oct. 1 (postponed from Sept. 23 due to inclement weather), kicking off at Hawthorne Avenue in Rye Brook at 3 p.m. and processing down the Avenue, taking a left on North Main Street, right on Adee Street and ending in the Marina Parking Lot. Held in conjunction with the Westchester County Volunteer Firefighters Association, it will feature about 25 departments and 100 apparatuses. 

The Village of Port Chester, Town of Rye, Village of Rye Brook Columbus Day Parade will be held Sun., Oct. 8. Participants will gather at 1 p.m. on Hawthorne Avenue, Rye Brook, and the parade will begin at 2 p.m., walking along Westchester Avenue, ending on New Broad Street, Port Chester. Before the parade there will be a wreath laying at Columbus Park at 10 a.m., a Flag Raising at Port Chester Village Square, corner of N. Main St. and Westchester Avenue at 9:15 a.m. The Grand Marshal will be EnricoRicky” Marini, owner of Marini’s Deli on Willett Avenue. He will also be recognized at the Port Chester -Rye Brook Columbus Day Celebration Dinner Dance Sat., Sept. 30 at Harrison Meadows Country Club.

The League of Women Voters of Rye, Rye Brook & Port Chester will host the 2023 Rye Town Supervisor & Town Council Candidates Forum, Tues., Oct. 10, 7-9 p.m. at the Port Chester Middle School, Bowman Avenue, Rye Brook. Clay Art Center, 40 Beech St., Port Chester will offer a workshop on Raku Glaze Firing, Sat., Sept. 30, Oct. 2 & 28, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., with Eileen Sackman. $150 single class. Learn the basics of low fired glazes, application and firing techniques in this one-day workshop. The Dashing for Dylan Kids Fun Run & Family Fun will take place Sun., Oct. 1, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in Crawford Park, 122 N. Ridge St., Rye Brook. The event is hosted by Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley, whose goal is to raise $50,000 to provide more than 250 nights of comfort to families facing the most difficult time in their lives. The Port Chester/Rye Branch of the NAACP will hold the Robert S. Brown and M. Paul Redd Freedom Fund Luncheon Sat., Oct. 22, 2-4 p.m. at the Port Chester Senior Center, 222 Grace Church St. Special guest speaker will be the U.S. Congressman Jamaal A. Bowman. MAPSpace, 6 N. Pearl St., Port Chester will present A Pot Nudged into Oblivion, on view Sat., Oct. 7-Nov. 11. It is a continuation of the curatorial & community project formerly known as Ice Cream Social. Clay Art Center, 40 Beech St., Port Chester, is presenting Functional Fall--A Seat at the Table: CAC National Juried Exhibition thru Oct. 16 in the gallery and online. The exhibition is comprised of functional ceramics from more than 40 artists across the U.S. and brings everyone to the table through ceramics that serve. Vick Quezada: Remains to be Seen runs thru Sept. 30. Exhibit features 10 ceramic hand pressed stylized trays that are replicas of the cafeteria trays found at the Fort Hood Base in Texas and are presented at Clay Art Center to invite critical dialog through clay, speaking to the significance of the culture and contributions of the American Latino community in the U.S. today; Hand in Hand 2023, Sat., Oct. 14, 4-6 p.m. outside of CAC. Celebrate with food, drinks and more. Bid on artwork donated by artists from all over the area.
