Anthony J. Scala Jr., P.E., 71, of Port Chester, died Mar. 28, 2024.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed member of the community.
He attended Xavier High School and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Manhattan College Class of 1974.
Mr. Scala dedicated his life to his work in electrical construction, where he excelled as President of Lowy and Donnath, was a Professional Engineer and Master Electrician in New York, New Jersey and Westchester and sat on the NYC Department of Buildings Electrical Advisory Board and the NYC Code Rewrite Committee.
He also served as a Trustee at Manhattan College and Convent of the Sacred Heart as well as a good friend of the Salesian Sisters.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, he found joy in spending time with his family, boating and restoring his Jeep; he was known as a great builder, from homes to hospitals, even to furniture.
He was a loving husband to his wife Mary Ellen, a devoted father to his three children, Anthony (Breamond), Christopher (Alicia), and Victoria (Derek) Cornish, and a proud grandfather to his five grandchildren: Jackson, Ali May, Annaleigh, Anthony W. and Evelyn.
Mr. Scala is survived by his brothers Peter (Joyce), Christopher (Kerry) and James and was predeceased by his brother William.
He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, unwavering dedication to his family and community and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Salesian Sisters of North Haledon, N.J., or Manhattan College.
Rest in peace, Anthony J. Scala Jr. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Greenwich Apr. 1, which would have been his 72nd birthday.
