Blind Brook High School to celebrate 50th anniversary with special event

April 3, 2024 at 11:45 p.m.

Blind Brook High School will hold a commemorative anniversary celebration on Saturday, May 18, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to celebrate the school’s 50th anniversary.

Festivities will be at the school’s campus at 840 King St.

The Blind Brook Junior-Senior High School, as it was called then, opened its doors in September 1973.

“It’s really a way to celebrate the history of Blind Brook High School,” Principal Jennifer Chirles said of the upcoming event. “From when we started and the successes we have now.”

The 50th anniversary committee has been working for months planning details of the day and is looking to get the word out to as many alumni as they can.

The day will begin at 1 p.m. with a special commemorative ceremony starting at 1:15 p.m. Organizers are planning to create a time capsule for future generations. There will be food trucks on site and guests will have an opportunity to tour the school.

There will be live music performed by a select band, yearbooks to look through and attendees will be able to view a gallery of photos showing the transformation of the high school building through the years.

As a special treat, attendees will also have an opportunity to sign “the rock,” like they did as seniors.

Anyone interested in attending the event can follow the 50th anniversary event on the Blind Brook High School Facebook page.
