Happy birthday to Port Chester High School graduate Brittany Abel, now a resident of San Francisco, who will celebrate Apr. 18. She is closing in on the end of her chief residency in Internal Medicine Ambulatory at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center. Rye Brook Recreation has instituted a new Pickleball & Tennis Membership/Court Reservation system. Reservations are required for all tennis & pickleball courts. The online tennis court reservation system allows Rye Brook resident and non-resident season passholders the opportunity to reserve courts. All memberships & court reservations must be made on their new reservation system, Court Reserve. To create an account, go to https://app.courtreserve.com/Online/Portal/index11451. You can also download the Court Reserve App on your phone. Once you create an account, an email will be sent to Rye Brook Rec to review your account. Once approved, you will then select and pay your membership.

Membership Plans: $50 Jr. Membership (8-18years), $75 Adult Membership (19 years and older); $150 Family Membership (includes children up to 21 living at home); $50 Senior Citizen Membership (60 years and older); $200 Non-Resident (Limited number available); $5 Guest Fee (With Resident Permitholder).

Tennis court locations are Pine Ridge Park (4); Garibaldi Park (1) and Harkness Park (4). Pickleball court locations are Rye Hills Park (3) and Garibaldi Park (1).

Are you 60 or older? Are you unable to cook due to a medical condition or physical disability? If so, there is a program that you may benefit from. The Home Delivered Meals Program was created to help seniors 60 and older who have been identified as “medically homebound,” lacking adequate support and the ability to cook and prepare meals independently due to a medical condition or physical disability. The purpose of the meal program is to help you maintain your health, nutrition and independence in order to continue living safely in your own home. If you think you may qualify for and benefit from this program, please contact the Port Chester Senior Center at 914-939-4085.

County Executive George Latimer and the Westchester-Putnam Workforce Development Board hosted an event at SUNY-Westchester Community College Yonkers for the County’s annual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program which helps low- and moderate-income individuals and families eligible for the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit file their taxes for free. The program also provides help for people with disabilities, senior citizens and those for whom English is a second language. The program is operating thru Mon., Apr. 15 at locations in Westchester including the White Plains Career Center, 120 Bloomingdale Rd., 2nd floor, Mondays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. by appointment only at 800/899-1479.

The Westchester Sports Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for outstanding professional and amateur sportsmen and sportswomen, living or deceased. A prospective candidate must be at least 25 years old and should be a person of integrity and good character who has gained prominence in either professional or amateur sports as a player, coach, manager, official, owner, sports media writer or broadcaster and who has made substantial contributions to sports in Westchester County.
