The Blind Brook Trojans baseball team had a 1-1 record going into their third game of the season, scheduled against Hastings for Wednesday, Apr 3. After learning the game was postponed, the boys shifted their attention towards Albertus Magnus on Tuesday, Apr. 9.

The boys faced Albertus Magnus for their second home game of the season. Alex Schneider started the game on the mound, lasting 1.2 innings. Zach Schneider then followed, with Robbie Cuesta and Elliot Zwicker behind them. Using four pitchers was not the original gameplan, but the strategy was necessary to attempt to contain the Falcons. The Trojans ended up getting no hits and lost 16-0. This rough game was a tough pill to swallow for the boys, but they attempted to turn the page and get ready for their next matchup just two days later.

On Thursday, Apr. 11, the Trojans hosted Bronxville. After losing by 16 runs and getting no-hit just two days earlier, the boys were hungry for revenge. Freshman Daniel Glantz started the game on the mound, lasting 2.2 innings. Zwicker pitched an additional inning before sophomore Chris Davis finished the game on the mound. A poor defensive day led to Bronxville putting up 13 runs. Andrew Rogovic going 2 for 3, Zwicker recording a hit, and an additional one from Nick Violino were not enough for the Trojans to put up a fight, and they fell by a 13-1 score.

Two days later, on Saturday, Apr. 13, the Trojans were back, this time traveling to Briarcliff for a 3 p.m. game. After letting up 29 runs in just two games, the Trojans were desperate for a win. Unfortunately, it would not come on this day. Zach Schneider was back on the mound, pitching five innings. Cuesta then pitched an additional inning, and between the two eight runs were scored. The Trojans had a better offensive day against the Bears, with 6 of the 9 players in the batting order recording hits. Again, this performance was not enough to keep up with Briarcliff and Blind Brook lost their fourth straight game.

The Briarcliff Bears traveled to Rye Brook to play the Trojans for the second straight time on Monday, Apr. 15. Glantz started on the mound, with Zwicker and Alex Schneider after him. The Trojans were only able to put up five hits, scoring four runs. Again, their offense was not able to back up their defense and Blind Brook suffered their fifth straight loss.

The Trojans have adapted to many changes so far this season, despite being six games in. Adjusting to a new home field at Joseph Curtis Recreation Park in Port Chester, dealing with the pressure from a plethora of MLB scouts attending their games, and managing through awful weather have all become normal for the team. Recently, injuries have joined that list. Key sophomore pitcher Asher Toll has been unable to make his pitching debut thus far due to back problems. Additionally, senior ace Andrew Rogovic, who was the probable starter for Thursday’s Bronxville matchup, was ruled out with a blister.

The Trojans now have a 1-5 record and sit in 11th place in the standings. Fortunately, the season is still young, and they have lots of time for recovery. There are tons of games down the line and many more chances for the Trojans to recover and get their record back to where they want it.

The Trojans were scheduled to travel to Valhalla after press time on Wednesday, Apr. 17. They will host Valhalla two days later on Friday, Apr. 19 at 4:30 p.m. and then host Haldane at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Apr. 20.
