Ashley Welde Day/Arbor Day Celebration will be sponsored by the Town of Rye, the Blind Brook-Rye UFSD and the Village of Rye Brook Fri., Apr. 26, 3:40-6:30 p.m. Free. The school district will be dedicating the new greenhouse at Bruno M. Ponterio Ridge Street School, 390 N. Ridge St., Rye Brook to Welde in recognition of all that she did for the district. The Village of Rye Brook will plant a tree in Rye Hills Park; the Town of Rye will dedicate a tiny forest at the entrance to Crawford Park to Welde and former Rye Town Councilman Anthony Baxter. Thompson: Transitions, Sat., Apr. 27-June 7. There will be an opening reception Sat., Apr. 27, 6-8 p.m. It is a solo exhibition of ceramic sculptures that blend the narratives of urban and rural human migration. Free. A hands-on One-Time workshop, The Built Environment, will be held Sat., Apr. 27, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with Lydia Thompson, exploring the house as a metaphor for personal journeys, memories of lived and/or visited places and structures you’ve seen in the landscapes as a passerby. $240.
