Domenico Lagana, 94, a longtime resident of Port Chester, died Aug. 14, 2024.
He was born Jan. 4, 1930 in Scilla, Reggio Calabria, Italy to Pasquale and Marianna Nicolo Lagana, who predeceased him. He was raised and educated in Italy.
He was married Nov. 27, 1955 in Italy to Rosa Caratozzolo who died Aug. 22, 2018.
Mr. Lagana and his family immigrated to the U.S. in 1966 and settled in Port Chester.
He was a baker for Arnold Bakery, a parishioner of Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester and a member of the Cariddi Club in Port Chester.
He was an avid gardener, enjoyed playing cards and word puzzles, was very social and enjoyed watching soccer and Italian shows on TV.
He is survived by his son Frank Lagana and his wife Paula of Stamford, Conn., daughter Mary Anne Veltri of Port Chester and grandchildren Frankie Lagana, Jennifer Lagana, Vinny Veltri, Rosemarie Veltri and Angelina Lagana-Guzman.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his son Pasquale Lagana in 2004 and his brothers Santo Lagana, Rocco Lagana and Anthony Lagana and sister Maria Pirrotta.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Sun., Aug. 18 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc., 40 Leicester St., Port Chester.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Mon., Aug. 19 at Parish of Saint John Bosco (Corpus Christi Church), 136 South Regent St., Port Chester, followed by entombment at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Rye Brook.
