Vincenzo ‘Vinny’ Pizzimenti: SUNY Purchase custodial supervisor

Vincenzo “Vinny” Pizzimenti, 97, a cherished resident of Port Chester, died Aug. 14, 2024.

He was born May 18, 1927 in Italy to Domenico and Domenica Marra Pizzimenti who predeceased him.

Vinny spent his early years in Italy before immigrating to Port Chester at the age of 18.

He dedicated many years to his role as a supervisor in the custodial department at SUNY Purchase.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Giovanna Bellantoni Pizzimenti, on Jan. 30, 1991.

Vinny was a man of great warmth and generosity; he took immense joy in hosting family and friends for Sunday dinners and holiday gatherings, especially Christmas Eve, where they all enjoyed the Feast of the Seven Fishes.

His home was always open, and he was known for his readiness to lend a helping hand at a moment’s notice.

He had a deep passion for gardening, and his family and friends were often greeted with fresh vegetables and a glass of his homemade wine.

He also enjoyed playing cards with friends and savoring his morning coffee with Charlie and JoAnn.

A pillar of strength and kindness, his presence will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his sons, Santo Pizzimenti and his wife Tina of Henderson, Nev. and John Pizzimenti and his wife Linda of Stamford, Conn.; daughter-in-law Theresa Pizzimenti (the late Dominick Pizzimenti) of Larchmont; his beloved grandchildren: Christina Pizzimenti, Vincent-Philip Pizzimenti (Amy), Alic Pizzimenti, Anthony Pizzimenti (Arielle), Christopher Pizzimenti, Nicole Pizzimenti Valle (Rafael) and Vincenzo Pizzimenti; great-grandchildren Dominick Pizzimenti and Rafael Valle, as well as his nephew Enzo Pizzimenti and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, Vinny was predeceased by his son Dominick and his cherished siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 20 at Parish of Saint John Bosco (Our Lady of Mercy Church), Port Chester, followed by burial at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Rye Brook.
